I attach screenshots from Device Manager. I would be very grateful if anyone could help out with this! Uninstalling the 2.4G Receiver device in Device Manager, and rebooting helps in as much as at the W7 login screen, the mouse works for a short while, but on logging in, after some activity, I get the driver error message and the mouse stops working again. There may be some clues to what is going on. Installation is cleanĥ) Tried to get it working in Safe Mode. I have tried -ġ) Unplugging the device and using a different portĢ) Uninstalling the 2.4G Receiver device in Device Manager and rebootingģ) Manually trying to install the 2.4G Receiver as a generic "USB Input Device" (driver installs but mouse still does not work)Ĥ) Scanned for malware, viruses, etc. Searching on the hardware ID leads to some sites that want you to install their driver application, but I'm wary of installing anything from a random internet site. The product is supposedly compatible with Windows XP onwards. No driver is available from Asus website and neither was one supplied in the box. No driver is available from Windows Update. I just get the "Device driver software was not successfully installed" message. It even works in the UEFI BIOS, which suggests it's a pretty standard HID device. It works fine in Windows 10, was recognised instantly, no driver required. I'm booting multiple OS's on this computer. It uses it's own USB 2.4 Ghz mini receiver. I recently replaced a knackered old MS wireless mouse with an Asus WT-425 2.4 Ghz wireless mouse.
